Hello Stephanie, I found your slides remarkable and so wish I had heard your presentation. You struck many chords with me. I have been thinking a lot about how survival depends on destruction. I remember reading EO Wilson discussing how, as I recall, human development took a leap with the hunting for and eating of meat – as a matter of calories and nutrition, and as a matter of organizing for the hunt. I think of that often, and I also think of how being tied to our screens means we are increasingly divorced from the natural world. Why go anywhere when you can experience it on Google Earth and Yahoo?
You tied all these and other phenomena together beautifully in your slides. I plan on reading them a couple of times over and know I’ll be thinking of them a lot.
